operation of Black Magic necessary for reading documents. This document
may be file-linked to any your documents in order to provide a help system
for the reading of hypertext documents. NTERGAID freely licenses to all who choose, the right to link this
document, HELP.MAG, into all of their documents in order to provide a
integral help system at no extra effort. The only restriction that we
place on the use of this document is that it not be altered except for the
deleting this note window. The <F1> command is used to
activate a link. To activate a link, put the
cursor between the link
symbols and press <F1>. Note: If pressing <F1> on a link
causes Black Magic to
display a "Open File: XXX"
message, do not be alarmed,
Black Magic is simply
accessing another document
through a File Link. The <Esc> command is used to return from a link. To return from a link,
simply press <Esc>. Note: If pressing <Esc> causes
Black Magic to display a
"Open File: XXX" message, do
not be alarmed, Black Magic
is simply accessing another
document through a File Link. The collapse command is used
to return to a document's
beginning. To collapse a document,
simply press <Alt> <F1>.
This will collapse a
document to the beginning. Note: On a long document, the
collapse process is not
instantaneous. If pressing <F1> on a link causes Black Magic to display a "Open File: XXX" message, do not be alarmed, Black Magic is simply accessing another document through a File Link. Pressing <Ctrl> <F2> causes
Black Magic to display the
document as a graphic. When
the map is displayed, it may
be used for navigating a
document by pressing the
arrow keys to scroll it and
<F1> to access the current
link. Note: Mapping any document,
particularly a long one, is
not an instantaneous process. Pressing <F4> causes Black
Magic to hide all links on
screen. This allows you to
concentrate on the
information at hand without
being distracted by the
prescence of links. Note: In previous versions of
Black Magic, this was used
by pressing <Alt> H <Ctrl> F is used to find
specified text within a
document. To search out
text, press <Ctrl> F and
enter the text to search
for. Then press <Enter>,
this will start the search
process. Note: To adjust how the search
operation happens, press
<Ctrl> O to access the
search options. If documents are file linked
together, searching for text
will not search the linked
documents. Pressing <Ctrl> P will print
the current text stream.
The current text stream is
simply that text that can be
reached by scrolling - not
by accessing links. <Ctrl> E is used to export
the contents of the current
window to a text file. This
is useful for excerpting
material from a hypertext
document. To export the
current window, press: <Ctrl> E, enter the filename
